I just had Vivint installed last week and I’m trying to automate my smart lights to turn on when the front door is opened—especially at night. I know the app has automation features, but I’m not sure where to find them or how advanced they are.

Open the Vivint app, go to the main menu, and tap “Custom Actions.” From there, you can create rules like “When door opens → turn on living room lights.” You can even set conditions like time of day. Just make sure the lights are Z-Wave and connected to the panel. Some automations might be limited unless you’re on the smart home service tier.
